My Favorite Intrusive Body Scanner Cartoons

Those new body scanners that show our naked bodies to TSA security personnel are an embarrassment to most travelers, but they are welcomed by cartoonists.  Here's a sampling of naked scanner cartoons from around the world, starting with my own cartoon which gave me the rare opportunity to draw Lady Liberty's boobs.

Cartoonist, Luo Jie, of the China Daily newspaper, sees the scanners as a natural evolution…

This one by French cartoonist, Frederick Deligne of the Nice-Matin newspaper, made me laugh …

Cartoonist John Darkow of the Columbia (MO) Daily Tribune may be spending too much time on the internet …

Cam Cardow, the cartoonist for the Ottawa Citizen in Canada, sees the scanners as especially revealing …

Cartoonists relish every opportunity to draw naked public officials.  Here is Janet Napolitano by Taylor Jones, the Staten Island based cartoonist for Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Dia newspaper.

J.D. Crowe
of the Mobile (AL) Press-Register sees the romance in the TSA …

This one is from my buddy, Jimmy Margulies of the New Jersey Record

… And Joe Heller of the Green Bay (WI) Press-Gazette has some scanner holiday spirit …

So any one want to finance my new line of interesting little items you can paste on your body to see if you can get a "WOW" out of the TSA agent. James Bonds third nipple? A 16" male member. (that one would be great for a patdown). Third mammory. Tail? Oh, the possibilities.

Oh BTW. Where is the stupidity in that you can't get on an airplane without a scan or search, but you can get on a ferry in Seattle with hundreds + of people on board and a boat full of cars, trucks, vans, etc. that no one is looking at.

You can always tape the words "screw you TSA" onto your body in metal tape. Let them see that in their scanner.

The 16 inch member on a girl would be a laugh.

Hal, great minds think alike. I created this a couple days ago, using the same premise:

If the terrorists start blowing up interstate bridges, will we be detained at every on-ramp? Actually, the border patrols near Nogales stops all vehicles headed north on the interstate. They use dogs to sniff out drugs. Ask every airline passenger to hold a puppy in their lap for 15 seconds and the complaining would stop. People touching people is the issue.

The Airline that is recognized as having the best security in the world, does not do body searches, but interviews every passenger on a one to one basis.I am refering to the official Airline of Israel .

I agree John, that would be the best method. The passport application could be used to do a more in depth securtiy check.

I really don't see the problem with the full body scanners, in fact I love them. I have an artificial hip joint and with the scanners and can pass through without the wand and pat down. Also, I've been in the nuclear field for that last 30 years and a little bit of radiation isn't going to be a problem. You also get additional radiation while you are flying in the airplane, but not near as much as a routine X-ray exam at the doctor's office.

Actually, this was about humor. Visualize a woman working out in the gym, out of breath and she says to her friend: "I have to lose 10 more pounds before I can be seen naked at the airport."

As I wrote a novel about terrorist, I researched them very much. I know they would think "baggage" instead of people, over the hoopla this is creating. The terrorist's mind is always thinking of new ways to injury and kill people. Here we are worrying about body scans while terrorists are looking for a new way to get to us. In my book, and this I researched heavily, a terrorist has the ability and resources to build a "dirty bomb" and explode it in your backyard. People had better start focusing on what they take for granted and stop complaining.

All Muslims are not terrorists, but, 99.9% of terrorists are Muslims. Check all Muslims and random check of other suspicious looking individuals. Islam isn't just a religion if it were there wouldn't be any problem. It is a a form of government from the DARK AGES that controls by terror. The females are basically slaves and have no rights and the men are not that well off either. Any descent is treated with torture. Lash's, amputation, hanging, stoning you name it, they do it. I do not understand why any thinking person would be a Muslim.

I think we have it all wrong. I feel sorry for the TSA. Have you seen the average American? Have you ever listened travelers bitch and whine about everything. If you do that job for a week you should be able to retire and take disability for PTSD.

I think we'd do well to look to other means of checking for terrorists. As others have mentioned, the Israelis have it down to to a science, without the full body scans.  Lots of other countries seem to be able to protect themselves without them.  Since the full body scanners are nothing more than a reaction to a past action on the part of some would be terrorist(s), we're probably a year or so behind the curve on what the bad guys are planning next.

The other thing to consider - who is benefitting from the installation of these machines?  There are reports that Michael Chertoff, the former head of Homeland Security, has financial interests in the company(ies) that manufacture these scanners.  As they say, follow the money. Are these scanners REALLY about safety or about lining someone's pockets?

I've worked in the airline industry (pre-9/11) and I know dealing with travelers can be difficult.  But I do think that we need stand up for some very basic rights about our persons.  This is the slippery slope the "Patriot Act" has taken us down.   I don't travel very often (once or twice a year), but I don't want to be told to stay home if I don't like the rules.  I have had back surgery and have hardware installed in my spine... Will this cause me to always be subjected to a full body pat down?  When I read about what people with disabilities have been subjected to, enrages me. Sorry, but I can't remove my screws and rods and show them to you..

fly on more, If you think it will stop there you are wrong it is only going to get worse, and as far a a air marshals trying to sneek on plains with bomb like devises to test sceurity is a laugh, A german General Hurman Goring (spelling not right Sry) said common folks do not like war it is the people that have power that do, The best way to get the people to follow you is to let them think that they are being attacked. Think about thomas Jefferson He said that a revolution should be held every Ten years in order to keep the governemt honest. So it boils down to this Change All of the polititions in D.C. IF you expect real change. JUst changing there seats brings the same as what we have already. For the price of the tickets that I have to pay for I would save money driving.nowhere is it written that the american government goes on forever. fly if you like give up you rights an liberties to feel safe, I hope you like it when windsheer takes the plane down. Also I believe that what comes next (for the terroists)is not in planes God I would like to guess but the last time I saw a program on how pilots have to go through qualifications to be recertified. One was aske how do you end the simulation??? oh Just crash it into a building or just quit. Now this was on the air on the AIR two years before 911. Tell me how someone can put that out on the program? None of this could happen without out Governmets Knowledge, Letting them come into the country. It can't happen if they can't get in. Have any of you been through the border?? everytime I have gone through the american border gards look through everything. so how can they get in??Stop Hauling cargo in passenger planes. See why they loose your luggage cargo pays more. yo Progress
