Toon-Off: The 99%

The Occupy Wall Street movement has turned the rally cry of the 99 percent into a worldwide phenomenon, highlighting the growing income disparity between the wealthy and the rest of the country.

So who drew the best cartoon about the 99 percent, Bill Day in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement, or Eric Allie's juxtaposition of the Occupy Wall Street crowd with the Tea Party?

I disagree completely with how Eric Allie's cartoon portrays the media showing only the good side to OWS, and the negative side of the Tea Party. Let's not forget that the Tea Party got overwhelming support from FOX news, while very few mainstream news stations are supporting OWS. Mr Allie also hypocritically portrays the OWS as being radical leftists and anarchists, anti-American (very clever putting someone stomping on the American flag), and hysterically enough anti-Semetic (really Mr Allie? Where's your evidence for this? I saw more than my fair share of racist signs at Tea Party protests)

I remember watching videos of Tea Partiers armed to the teeth, even at a presidential speech. Do you see anyone at OWS armed? Of course not. The media and government (both bought by corporations) would jump on a single instance of it. It's hypocrisy in every sense of the word.

The one that stuck out to me was the sign saying "Pay my tuition you greedy jerks." Is that what you really think this is about? This isn't just a bunch of lazy college students and deadbeat hippies. This is Americans of all ages, races, and social background. We're tired of the growing disparity of wealth among the richest Americans and the rest of us. It's not right. It's class warfare, and the rich are winning. They don't want to see the common people achieve the American Dream.

    Welcome to America, the plutocracy.
