Toon-Off: Obama bus tour

As President Obama continues his bus tour of North Carolina and Virginia to push his economic agenda, many on the right have slammed both his policies and his new wheels. John McCain claimed the bus was ugly, while Mitt Romney said Obama has embarked "on a new log of his Magical Misery Tour."

So who drew the best cartoon about Obama's wheels - Eric Allie of PoliticalCartoons.com or Pat Bagley of the Salt Lake Tribune?

We are living in a period of time when the collective madness of people is coming to a full boil, and no one knows what to do to save themselves. We were all made dependent upon systems that now have us in a stranglehold and are choking the life out of us. Those in power have no real desire to bend the status quo to changing times, and this refusal in itself is making things worse for everyone. The pain starts at the bottom and will work its way up. The wealthy too will not be spared. What we see today should be scary because we see a collapse unfolding of America and of the World of mankind. Greed, selfishness, hatefulness, callousness, cold heartedness, unreasonableness, all have taken over, a certain recipe for a world headed for destruction, a changing that will affect all of mankind. The poor will rise, the homeless will rise, the hungry will rise, and tribalism will take over. Dog eat Dog the motto of the hateful, but even they will not survive what is coming upon the earth. Ignore it that is your prerogative, but it will not change the facts of what we see and feel. The atmosphere is so thick with fear of what is coming upon the earth that some no longer deny that there is a massive changing taking place.

These are my words and this is my way describing what has already been prophesied to occur. We are doing these things to ourselves for the reasons described.

I remember movies in which they have described a society that is mostly poor ruled by a single conglomerate, facilitated by political leaders, that also has its own police and military forces. The people, are mostly poor in these movies and are in rags. They are hungry, hapless, hopeless, homeless, and feeding upon one another with hatefulness. The activists for human rights, human dignity, and humanity still exist but they find it far more difficult to effect changes to the benefit of all the poor and the growing poor. You say this can't be so, well, today in real life it is so. There are corporations so large that a few do have to some measure their own police, and in some cases military (contractors) like Black Water. Stay tuned, if we the people lose, such takeover will come our way sooner than any of us think. The impossible is now a possibility, and can be a reality.

The only thing Orwell got wrong was the year.
